An Open Letter to the Writing Class of the New Heights Academy Charter School

Dear Writing Class,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you and Mr. Castillo for having me be part of your Writing Class last Thursday. I enjoyed our conservation about Writing and the dedication behind it. Your questions were well-thought-out and I appreciate the energy you brought to the class on that cloudy and  rainy morning.

I encourage you to work hard on achieving your dreams and remember, it all starts with a library card, a pad and a pen/pencil. If I learned anything about your class is that you all have the ability to write. The question that only you and time will answer is what kind of writer will you become?

Believe it or not, you have a choice…

You can write about anything or something you truly care about. You possess the choice of either pandering to your audience or challenging them to understand your view of the world. Whether you’re writing about a funny, joyful, sorrowful, confusing, or exciting topic, always illuminate your audience with the Truth. Dare them to feel what you’re expressing and do it in a creative manner.

If at anytime you have a question for me, please inform Mr. Castillo. Once again, it was an honor meeting you and I look forward to see your class again in the future. Enjoy the rest of the week and remember to read and write on a daily basis.

Respectfully,

Cesar Diaz
