Bronx, NY - Monday night was the final installment of Latino Sports annual 21 Days of Clemente. For the few and the proud who attended, it was a good time as talked about life, sports and politics within the South Bronx.
Presenting that evening was the passionate Dr. Luis Mojica, Executive Director of the Multicultural Music Group. He talked about how an individual like Roberto Clemente was more about being only an athlete and it’s important that many people remember that. He stressed the importance of education reform to better prepare today’s children for the realities of adulthood.
As stated on their website on MulticulturalMusicGroup.org,
“The basic mission of the MMG is to provide performances, instruction and professional development in multicultural music as a tool to promote global understanding, cultural awareness, and academic achievement. The presentations, training and instruction provide the constituents the opportunity to experience artistic growth and cultural awareness through the acquisition of specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes that contribute to a more harmonious society and a better lifelong enjoyment of music.”
Towards the conclusion of his discussion, Dr. Mojica informed the audience that in 2014, a musical program and panel honoring the life of Roberto Clemente will take place on June 14, 2014. Details will be revealed later in the new year. It should be an event worth attending.
With that said, Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays to you and your family! Happy Holidays to our Latino Sports family because their hard work and dedication made it possible for us to successfully run this online publication. Thank you all and I look forward to seeing you in 2014.
